Protecting industrial facilities from bird damage

Dinu LASCU from LASCU DESPOT PAUL DINU I.I. company, contacted BirdProTech team to solve a persistent bird problem. His client owns a 48,000 sqm solar panel roof on a shipyard on the Romanian Black Sea coast. Seagulls, which visit the area throughout the year, use the facility as both a resting and nesting area.

The need for an autonomous and sustainable solution

As the bird problem is not seasonal, BirdProTech recommended the installation of several autonomous laser bird repellers. The team developed a customised technical proposal to protect the solar panel area, as the presence of birds can reduce energy production by up to 20%. In addition, droppings, feathers and nests on rooftops lead to recurring, costly cleaning and maintenance.

Tailor-made installation

The LazerTrac® LZT500 bird repeller was chosen to tackle the problem of seagulls. LASCU DESPOT PAUL DINU I.I. managed the installation of the equipment and BirdProTech came for the initial commissioning. The laser pattern and time slots have been programmed and the new partner LASCU DESPOT PAUL DINU I.I. has received the safety training to carry out future commissioning independently.

” BirdProTech team has been very involved and helpful throughout the installation. We will definitely work together again!” Dinu LASCU – LASCU DESPOT PAUL DINU I.I.
